Leadership Comes from Within Gerry McCarthy---President/CEO
My Philosophy is to promote leadership by example—that is, to walk the walk and talk the talk. After years of hard work, experimentation, and management, I have learned one very key lesson: to be a leader you have to defy the odds. This is achieved by setting and adhering to your standards, demanding the best from yourself, projecting confidence and doing what others refuse to do.
To effectively demonstrate good leadership qualities, a leader must approach each day with a professional and positive attitude. In 2006, Gerry received Lawn and Landscape's Leadership Award sponsored by Bayer, John Deere, Toro and other Green Industry leaders.
It is crucial to implement good systems for our employees to follow. Systems that work can be easily transferred from one employee to another. The value gained, from the combination of both timely and skilled labor, can then be passed on to the customer.
Promoting leadership is a day to day process, which is reinforced through effectively dealing with everyday problems. This is accomplished by taking initiative, understanding responsibility, troubleshooting obstacles while providing exceptional results to the customer, and completing every job to the highest expectations. Mac's Landscaping is known for adhering to these high standards.
Our business success and reputation are directly affected by the perception the general public and our
customers have of our company. Everyday I challenge myself and my employees to set higher standards, stay mentally focused, and in doing so, achieve our goal of providing quality landscape services at reasonable prices to our most valued customers.
